I have written several posts on Jollof rice, in particular the origin of the rice dish, how it is made to perfection and also how it has been influencing other similar rice dishes from other parts of the world. I love my Jollof rice and its always my dish of choice. To make jollof: Crush stock cubes and set aside. You can have Jollof crush using 8 ingredients and 11 steps. Here is how you achieve it.
Ingredients of Jollof crush
- It's 4 cups of Rice.
- Prepare of Tomatoes pepper onions tatashe.
- It's of Salt n jollof ingredients.
- It's of Crayfish and bonga(optional).
- Prepare G of oil.
- It's leaf of Thyme curry bay.
- You need of Cooking fat.
- It's of Meat and Ghana pepper.
Set aside one half and chop the other. Blend half onion (that wasn't chopped) with tomatoes, ginger and garlic for a minute. Add in tomato paste, stirring often so it doesn't burn. There are many different ways to make Jollof rice.
Jollof crush instructions
- Boil hot water n pour in the rice inside a bowl and cover to steam.
- Blend tomatoes tatashe pepper and onions.
- Wash meat season and cook with enough stock because it will be needed for the rice.
- Pour g oil in a pot on d gas once is hot add sliced onions and and pour blended tomatoes and fry.
- Add thyme inside the stew as is boiling.
- The crayfish and bonga can be poured and into d stew.
- Allow to fry while turning it intermittently to minimize being burnt then add tin tomatoes.
- Add salt and seasoning and dry Ghana pepper.
- Once the stew is fried filter the stock and pour if it wont be enough to cook d rice add more water n seasoning.
- Allow to boil and then pour the rice stir properly allow to cook after 10mins stir to ensure all sides are covered in stew.
- Add cooking fat cover and allow to steam then off the heat.food is ready..
Some people use coconut milk, or use maggie seasoning cubes and water. Pureeing the crushed tomatoes with the peppers is something some do as well. Some pots are saucy while others are more dry. Anyway, I washed and cut my tomatoes and peppers and onions, I crushed my garlic and tossed in the habanero. Jollof rice is something that I've loved my whole life.
