Spicy, tangy, sour all at the same time, this Punjabi Mutton Curry became my immediate fav and I was quite eager to try out the recipe in my kitchen. The ingredients used to make this curry are almost similar to the everyday Mutton Curry that I make, except a few exceptions and the way curry is made. To prepare this easy recipe, firstly, clean and wash the mutton pieces. Spicy Mutton Curry can be made easily in a pressure cooker which is the way I have instructed.

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add sliced onion. In the mean time, make a paste of ginger and garlic. Keep this aside..
  2. When the onion turns translucent, add ginger garlic paste. Saute well. After sometime, add the mutton. Mix well..
  3. Now add red chilli powder, salt, coriander powder, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, black pepper, Cinnamon stick, cloves and black cardamom. Mix well..
  4. Add water and mix well. Cover the lid and cook till the mutton is completely soft and cooked..
  5. Once cooked, take off the lid and cook again till the oil leaves the masala. Now add yogurt and mix well. Let it cook till the oil is seen on top..
  6. Add garam masala powder, green chilli and coriander leaves..
  7. Mix well and serve hot with roti, naan or steamed rice..

The trick of this recipe is in the pressure cooking process, where the mutton becomes really tender and juicy. I do hope that you will also enjoy this Spicy Mutton Curry. After the raw smell off ginger and garlic goes off, add the mutton and mix it all well. Now add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder , black pepper , salt and half cup of water into it. Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
